Windows Small Business Server 2011 in two versions available: Essentials version with cloud connection available from the 1st half of 2011, the standard version from February 2011. Microsoft presented formerly Aurora and the Windows Small Business Server 2011 standard two new IT solutions for small and medium-sized businesses with up to 75 PC workstations with Windows Small Business Server 2011 essentials. Both versions offer SMEs”an economical alternative to conventional individual server products. In addition, the Windows Small Business Server 2011 Essentials supports the use of cloud services. The server solutions are available through Microsoft Connect already as a public beta and have been downloaded in the first week almost 1,000 times. Microsoft delivers the standard version to the OEMs to preinstall since 13th December 2010 (RTM).

The new servers are tailored to the specific needs of small businesses and support mobile working and growth. The Essentials version especially suitable as primary server solution for start-ups or microenterprises, benefiting up to date still not of the added value of a server. The Standard Edition is a complete “all-in one”-solution that offers above all privacy and security in SMEs. “A total 1.5 million, have that means 64 percent of all small businesses in Germany so far still no server.” We address exactly this target group with our small business server 2011.
