Alan Quasha: Economic Leader and Philanthropist
Tue, 06/24/2008 - 14:47
Many successful business leaders are successful in another – seemingly
unrelated – sphere, namely, philanthropy. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet
are just two examples of people who realize that their talents and
successes can also be channeled into helping others.
The executive director of the Brain Trauma Foundation, Alan G. Quasha,
investment manager and leading Harvard chairman and director is another
example. Quasha has joined the Brain Trauma Foundation in its mission
of saving and improving the lives of head injury patients, those who
suffer Traumatic brain injury (TBI). TBI, also termed intracranial
injury, or simply head injury, occurs when physical trauma causes brain
damage.
Of course the financial aid offered by leading business
personalities is essential for the existence of many charitable causes,
yet it is most impressive when financial leaders, lawyers, financial
analysts or investment managers, like Quasha, for example, who is all of
the aforementioned, invest of their own time as directors of these
organizations.
Another example of Quasha’s social involvement is his membership of the
Overseers Committee on University Resources at Harvard University. His
alma mater, where he went to the Business and Legal schools, and where
Quasha earned his MBA, Harvard, also benefits from the investment
manager and economic analyst’s time and knowledge.
